Taking a seat, even on a field trip.
There is a lot of standing around, looking around, and listening, on most walks.
If you are lucky, you can find something and photograph it.
When you do it with a group, more eyes and ears, and the company of more experienced bird watchers, is an advantage.
But it's most peaceful when done solitarily.
